Setting: A courtroom. The atmosphere is tense as the judge sits behind the bench, looking over documents. The prosecutor, Ms. Richards, stands near the jury, while the defense lawyer, Mr. Walker, sits next to the defendant, Michael Reynolds. The jury watches closely.

Judge Harper:  Court is now in session. This is the case of The People vs. Michael Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds is charged with armed robbery. Ms. Richards, are you ready to proceed with your opening statement?

Prosecutor Richards: Yes, Your Honor. (面向陪审团) Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we are here today because Michael Reynolds walked into a convenience store on the night of July 15th, armed with a handgun, and robbed the store of $3,000. We have surveillance footage, witness testimony, and forensic evidence that place him at the scene, armed and dangerous. The defendant’s actions were premeditated and violent. You’ll see that there is no doubt that Michael Reynolds committed this crime. By the end of this trial, you will see there is only one verdict you can return: guilty.

Judge Harper:  Mr. Walker, your opening statement.

Defense Lawyer Walker: Thank you, Your Honor. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the prosecution will try to paint my client as a dangerous criminal, but the evidence will show a different story. Michael Reynolds was not at that convenience store on the night of July 15th. The prosecution's so-called “evidence” is full of inconsistencies, and the witnesses? Unreliable at best. We will prove to you that this is a case of mistaken identity and that my client is innocent of all charges.

Judge Harper: You may call your first witness, Ms. Richards.

Prosecutor Richards: The prosecution calls Officer Jacobs to the stand.

Prosecutor Richards: Officer Jacobs, could you please tell the court what happened on the night of July 15th?

Officer Jacobs:  (懒懒的) Yes, ma'am. I received a call at approximately 10:15 p.m. about a robbery in progress at Martin's Convenience Store. When I arrived, the suspect had already fled, but we reviewed the surveillance footage. The video clearly shows a man, later identified as Michael Reynolds, entering the store, brandishing a handgun, and demanding money from the cashier.

Prosecutor Richards: And were you able to identify the suspect from that footage?

Officer Jacobs: Yes. We circulated the footage, and several witnesses, including the store clerk, identified the man as Michael Reynolds.
